The brief:

To develop a simple, user-friendly, and intuitive, graphical user interface for a medical search engine that delivers a positive user experience resulting in high frequency usage.

The work:

Working closely with CMPMedica Ltd, we consulted GPs throughout the project, ensuring that the users’ needs were at the centre of the design. Eye-tracking tests were carried out with GPs, because how users say they behave isn’t always how they really do.

We also ensured there was appropriate online branding and accessibility levels, so that disabled professionals could use SearchMedica without difficulty.

The results:

Due to our design expertise, the creation and positioning of search result groups or ‘categories’, provides a unique and distinct feature that enables users to pinpoint the information they need, quickly. The Guardian 7/9/06 “…could do an indispensable job for British GPs.”

Finalist in the Revolution Awards 2007 in B2B Category and shortlisted for ‘Innovation of the Year’ in the AOP Awards 2007. Due to the success of the GP version, SearchMedica is now launching to other healthcare professionals including pharmacists, nurses and medical students.
