Small Luxury Hotels of the World has ‘Best Hotel Website’

Small Luxury Hotels of the World has received one of the top prizes at the 2008 Travolution Awards in the category ‘Best Hotel Website’.  This accolade has been bestowed on the luxury hotel brand just five months after the launch of its newly designed website, www.slh.com.

The Travolution judging panel commented on the website’s success in integrating inspirational imagery with fantastic functionality and navigation across all hotels within the Small Luxury Hotels of the World brand.  The judges commended the site for its ability to motivate without damaging the user experience.

“One of the greatest challenges we faced when developing the new website was ensuring the reservation functionality was efficiently executed without compromising the positioning of the luxury brand,” commented Paul Kerr, Chief Executive Officer of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. “Being named Best Hotel Website by Travolution is definitely testament to us having been successful in achieving this,” he added.

slh.com focuses on the ‘experiences’ that individual hotels can offer. Customers are enticed with emotive imagery, enhanced hotel information and attractive offers via rich, immersive design befitting of the luxury brand. Customers of slh.com do not need to visit any other website to gain the information that they require about individual hotels.

Created by digital design agency Fortune Cookie, the revitalised slh.com was a year in the making and has already resulted in significant increases in revenue for Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

Since its launch at the end of 2007, slh.com has generated:

  • 45% more reservations
  • 56% growth in room nights
  • 15% increase in Average Room Rate compared to the same period last year

In being named ‘Best Hotel Website’, Small Luxury Hotels of the World beat other well-known hotel brands such as Conrad Hotels and Aman Resorts, as well as The Connaught in London, all of which were short-listed in the same category.

Also short-listed in the Best Hotel Website category was The Atlantic Hotel in the Channel Islands (www.theatlantichotel.com).  The Atlantic Hotel has been part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World brand since 1993, and its Managing Director, Patrick Burke, is Chairman of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

Fortune Cookie celebrated two wins, two high commendations and a further six finalist places at the Travolution Awards 2008:

Fortune Cookie was highly commended for the outstanding quality of design that the agency has delivered to clients in the travel sector in the past twelve months.

Commenting on the agency’s success, Justin Cooke, Managing Director of Fortune Cookie, says, “Fortune Cookie has invested heavily in the online travel sector over the past 12 months and I am absolutely delighted that our efforts have led to Travolution Awards recognition for so many of our clients.  While I am delighted for every one of our clients, the result for Small Luxury Hotels of the World is an achievement of which I am particularly proud.  As with all our clients, we will continue to develop a strong strategic relationship with Small Luxury Hotels of the World that we are confident will produce further business rewards for them in the future.”

The Travolution Awards, which are in their second year, recognise the best tour operators, travel agents, portals, digital marketers and suppliers in the online travel industry.
